lyrics

We both have a past
That we can’t let go
Too little time
And so much to know
The truth is blurred
But we’ll learn it slow
Rebel son
And his black widow
The rebel rose
And he went off to work
While the widow cried
And raised her head slow
He does what he can
So not to cause strife
For one small child for the rest
The rest of his life
He knows it’s wrong
But doesn’t seem to care
His soul’s been sold
And ripped out of there
Sometimes the strongest
Have the hardest time
The deepest rivers
And mountains to climb
The widow weeps
But she holds her head high
And puts on a front
And she tries not to cry
Scars will heal
Tears will dry up
She looks to the rebel
And she holds holds her hands out
The rebel is there
As he battles his past
Trusting this widow
Well that could never last
He sees through her front
And he feels her pain
Thinking she could
Never love again
There’s a cowboy
In both of their hearts
But too many years
And so far apart
The rebel will leave
And go off all alone
While the widow lays still
Broken alone
She’ll move to her next
Victim of pain
The black widow’s been born
Tearing at veins
Hoping this rebel
Won’t ask for much more
Then a night in her arms
And his boots
His boots at her door
